Dream Home Itch

 The First-Time Home-Buying Itch

The past few months, I had been suffering from the an on and off home-buyer itch and I cannot seem to shake (or scratch) it off. While I can't complain about the current living situation (good house mates that I get along with), I just hate having to pay for rent every month, knowing that it's money that I will never see again.

Lately, I had been trying to make an actual effort not to spend, to create and revise Mean Bean and I's budget, and save as much money as we can. I just want to buy my first home soon and I can't help obsessing over it. I feel that it's one of those crucial and exciting milestones that I'm just eager to take.

The Dream Home

Recently, I learned about the Oil Barron's Dream Home Lottery here in Fort Mac, with the Grand Prize valued at $ 1,412,186.21. This is the Oil Barons' 19th home raffle, in support of Fort McMurray's Junior A hockey (you can read more about the lottery through their website).

While I had already accepted the fact that my first home will be fairly small--a starter home--just like most of the rest of the world, I just can't help thinking and imagining living in this house. Everything about it is wonderful and they used the space so wisely. It's just lives up to the name, Dream Home

We really need to meet with a financial adviser soon. Mortgage, opportunity costs, interest, and everything that home-buying entails is beyond my 23-year-old-comprehension. We need a professional to weigh the options.

More on the home-buyers' itch adventures soon!

  1. Looks like a gorgeous house! Did it include the furniture? I have a hard time believing that the house was valued at over a million dollars if it didn't include the furniture and decor. Or is the real estate market really that expensive where you are?

    1. Yes and yes. It does include the furniture, AND pretty much everything here is ridiculously priced too.

    1. It is! The pictures I took does not even begin to justify the great and efficient use of space they did. I really want to win that home.
